nursing
I thought these were funny
I'm no super skilled assessor (yet), but already I use my stethoscope to determine if my patients' might need a breathing treatment or have fluid around their lungs, I have heard heart murmurs and valve clicks, and have heard bowel sounds which tells me their digestive system is working, or not.
No one likes having their job belittled, so seeing a lot of nurses upset and posting responses, both funny and just simply providing education has been interesting.
I don't watch the View, I don't need the drivel and gossip, but I looked up Joy Behar to see if I could find out how she has never come across a nurse before. I guess she was a receptionist, a producer, comedian, and then tv host. Fair enough, that is totally a different realm than healthcare. And maybe she has been lucky enough to not be in a hospital yet, however, at 72 that will likely end at sometime, but still not to have visited someone and seen a loved one cared for? Anyway. I saw that there was a challenge for her to job shadow that Miss Colorado for a day to see what it is like in another person's shoes, I think that is a great idea, but pretty sure she won't do it. Interesting.

Randoms
I am really looking forward to this weekend. My room is an absolute mess of papers, books, laundry, mail, bags, clothes, shoes, suitcases, crafts, stuff. I need a solid hour or two to put some music on, turn on the fan, and organize!!
This week has been so busy with something every night. Mostly I do like being busy, and sometimes I think I may have a messy room, but I am enjoying a full life :) but then it's like I seriously need to get this mess under control! I'm also looking forward to some relaxing and catching up on my Bachelorettes and (ahem, guilty cough) Dexters. Although I haven't felt as guilty watching that show lately since his one very graphic girlfriend season ended a couple seasons ago. So that's good.
One song I have been listening to in my car almost continually on repeat and always at top volume is this song Prog by Pinback. I can never understand the words, but I love the guitar/drum part. LOVE. Then I see they are coming in concert in September and tickets are only $15. Anyone want to go??? Times like these I especially wish my bro was in town, he'd be my concert buddy. But alas, so any other concert buddies out there?
I am REALLY looking forward to next week when my sister will be in town. And then Joel & Michelle come in on Thursday. We have wedding prep, but I am looking forward to all being together again!!

Dexter
I got to see one of my favorite guys last night...
I probably should not watch this show. It's full of lies, sex, swearing, and lets not forget how he is a serial killer. But it's just so good!
And then to further illustrate how this show is probably not that good for me, this google image popped up:
Haha, but seriously, touché Holy Spirit, good job convicting me.
About a year ago I was really feeling that God was putting that verse on my heart, "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things." (Philippians 4:8) I went through all our movies and got rid of a bunch of the Rs and a lot of Andrew's druggie/horror/scary movies. I was ruthless- but it was for our own good. The bible talks a lot about our hearts. Protecting them. Guarding them. "Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life." (Proverbs 4:23) What is in our hearts determines our lives, "A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of." (Luke 6:45) I want good in my heart.
Last night I went to my friend Liz's to watch said program. I came over late because I had my second divorce class after work. (In a moment of recovering weakness a few months ago I signed up for another divorce class! So now I'm overlapping for a bit, but so far, I like this one too, so we'll see) Anyway, it was late when I got there. My poor friend had been trying to back her new trailer for her food business into the driveway for the last 20 minutes and I could tell she was about to crack. So I went in and helped make dinner while her husband helped with the truck. I sorted the recycling, put away dishes, put things back onto shelves, cleaned up. It was nice to be able to help her. So then we had a very late (11pm!) dinner of Elk Lasagne. Pretty tasty actually. And then after the show I went home and straight to bed!

Freaks
Did I ever mention my love for freaks?
I was excited when I saw this guy in the cherry bag earlier this summer
I also love biting in to a peanut m & m where someone forgot to put the peanut in and it is just a delicious giant plain m & m.
Actually, I’m now trying to think of extra things like that… and on the freaky foods topic, once my brother told me that he cracked an egg, and inside, was another tiny egg! Miraculous!
I guess unless it’s a food related thing, then maybe I don’t like it. I don’t care that much for freaky people,
Unless it’s them tho, love them.
Speaking of cancelled tv shows, I heard the other day that one of my all-time-favorite-shows Arrested Development is going to be coming back for 10 more episodes and a movie, whaaa? One can only keep hoping…. been waiting for 5 years already! Get on it!
