My lil' pumpkins

My friend had the most gorgeous family photos in a local pumpkin patch, so we went on Saturday with high hopes for the same thing. We did have a nice day, but uncooperating (with looking and smiling) kids, lol.

This was a different place than the apple orchard we usually go to, because of the pumpkin field. I don't think we'll go there again, (unless can attempt fall pumpkin pics again!) it was very overpriced and their donuts were "meh". But it was a beautiful day. We took our kids to a park to run around on the way home, and then that evening went to a nearby town for their Halloween Fest. Which was a socially distanced event where the kids just went through a line set up at the farmer's market spot and trick-or-treated. It was a really nice event actually. They got a mix of candy baggies, but also little coloring books, and a couple fun DIY magnet and bracelet kits. Neat!

Halloween cuties

From one of mama's favorite Disney movies (if not thee favorite), Beauty & the Beast.

I saw the Beast costume on FB marketplace and then had to get Belle's dress on ebay. So adorable.

It was cold and drizzling rain, so Doug and I pulled them around our neighborhood. I love chatting with all the neighbors. It was fun. And August is in a really friendly outgoing stage of life, always asking people their names, he has helped us meet so many new people and started friendships for us :)

I realized poor Jeanie had no mittens, so here she is sporting brother's socks. Her hands were ICE COLD at the end of the night, I felt bad, and we had to do some icy skin-to-skin nursing afterwards, the rest of her was toasty warm, just those cold hands.

August ate a bunch of candy while we rolled him house to house, "Put the candy in my bucket!" haha, and it's been sitting on top of the refrigerator ever since, well, in a bag, he is loving playing with his pumpkin basket and putting other stuff in it.

Such a fun stage of life.

Happy Halloween

Last night we took out August for his first time trick-or-treating!

He didn't say it, but he was happy to grab the candy out of people's hands, or bowl, and stuff it into his pumpkin. And he always said 'thank you' :)

I don't think he really even knows what he was grabbing. His pumpkin has sat all day on the chair here and he hasn't once reached for it or tried to open any of the candy. Meanwhile... mom and dad have been eating some!

Doug wanted to spring for the Disney brand costume and I'm actually glad we did, it looked so good, seriously the fur was like realistically rippling in the breeze as he walked. Next year though we'll probably just get something from the Salvation Army!

The trick-or-treating in our neighborhood is from 6-8 so the first hour we went out with him, and the second hour we planned to pass out candy, but then we only got 2 visitors! So not only do we have his candy, but also most of the bowl that we bought to hand out! Haha. But it was nice to walk through our neighborhood and even introduce ourselves to some of our neighbors, we have such kind people in our area.

zoo boo

Last week we were excited to take August to the zoo boo. Which I thought was just going to the zoo while wearing a costume.

The Salvation Army, which had tons of stuff last year when I was just pregnant, this year had nothing. So he wore an orange shirt and a pumpkin hat and was our little pumpkin. Actually I had knitted that hat for a friend's baby and she gave it back to me in a pile of stuff her son had outgrown! :)

Anyway, it turns out Zoo Boo is just going thru a sectioned off part of the zoo and stopping at trick-or-treat stations along the way. The only things open were the reptile house, the camels were still outside, and we saw the beaver in his habitat. So we were actually kind of disappointed. August did seem to like to see kids running around, and they did have this really good juggler that we watched for awhile, but I wouldn't go again. There were lots of Halloween blow ups and decor along the path, they did have a display of pumpkins and squashes that were made to look like animals and painted, which was kind of cool, but again, Halloween isn't really our thing anyway, so not for us.

It was a nice day though and it's always good to get out and do stuff as a family. We love our little pumpkin!

The Halloween party we went to on Saturday was pretty fun. I brought witches fingers

and we hung out with some of Andrew's work friends, and played flip cup. I had never played before, and it was actually kind of fun. Besides the stress reminiscent of high-school gym class relays, it was more fun with beer I guess. I'm not a big drinker, my cup always had like 1/2 inch in it, but the new Bud Light Lime is actually pretty good I discovered!

Before the party we mostly spend the day prepping for the party after sleeping for 11 hours!!

The most disturbing thing at the party was we met a lady, a neighbor of Andrew's work friend, who started telling us she met her husband when he was married to someone else and traveling here on business. She explained how they started talking, and went out for coffee, and 'that was it' she said. It was the oddest conversation. We both were awkwardly like 'um, great'. What do you say to someone who just told you she helped divide up someone's marriage? Of course in these situations I feel the guy is more at fault, he was the one actually breaking his marriage vows, but still, is this something that should be celebrated? We liked the people, but I just didn't know why she was so up front about something we did not ever need to know.

He and the other therapists are going to work today dressed as Snow White and the 7 dwarfs. So fun. They even watched part of the movie the other day to 'get into character'. He was singing 'Hi-Ho' as he marched around the apartment the other day. How fun, and how nice to bring a smile to his patient's faces.

Costumes

Hubbs and I got invited to a Halloween party this year, so last night we were brainstorming ideas. We've only gone once to a costume party together and we went as a spider and fly

so I definitely like the idea going as a 'team'. His sister has raggedy Anne and Andy costumes, which could be a back-up, but Andrew doesn't want to because he doensn't want people to call him Andy!

Anyway, we had a few ideas last night:

Then we thought of one of my favorite movies, Beauty and the Beast... and no, Andrew didn't suggest "Beauty" and "Beast" he said that we could be Lumiere and Cogsworth

guess who I'd get to be, and I'm 100% sure I don't want to look like this guy:

We have one more idea. So we're going to pay a visit to the Goodwill this weekend to see if it's possible, and if not, back to the drawing board!
