Last weekend went to our favorite apple picking orchard again and met up with friends. We had just picked the previous weekend so we just went for the donuts and cider. Seriously, this place is the BEST. Had fun with our friends, and just beat the rain. Then headed over to our friend Liz's house where she had made yummy butternut soups and chicken pot pie soup for us all. So tasty and so fun :)
Last weekend we zipped up North to visit my 99-year-old Grandpa. I try to see him a couple times a year.
We usually stay with the Aunt & Uncle my Grandpa lives with, but this time we stayed with a cousin and his wife and their 4 kids. It was nice to catch up with them and the kids all played so nice together.
We came home for church, yay!, our church ministry is back up and running so we can go and actually pay attention instead of running after the kids.
Our neighbor took a few photos of us on another neighbors lawn (no one needs to see our dry bare spots lawn, haha) since we had dressed up for the momentous occasion :)
Then we went to Doug's friend's house for an evening swim. He heated the pool to 90! It felt really nice, and we went out to dinner with them to Mediterranean. Yum.

Last weekend was a nice low key one for us after we'd been busying turning over our rental property and not seeing Doug very much. We laid low and went out to eat a bunch and it was nice.
Finally I grew a zucchini!
Trying to teach August how to ride his balance bike, he was not interested. But yesterday we went to my cousins and he was zooming around on his second-cousins' balance bike, so maybe he'll be into his now??
Video won't work, but he loves to help me sort the silverware. Starting the chores already! :)

Sometimes at church there is a little photo shoot area set up, who knows why, but I helped myself and got these great shots of my handsome little man!
Then we headed over to my cousin's house to play and have supper. She is blessed to have 6 children. All home-schooled and love God and just such a wholesome, musically talented, happy family. The kids played for hours outside, I love it since I'm mostly boring stay-inside mom (besides going for walks). I loved August getting all the fresh air.

These little piggies are going to market soon, waaaaah. Not everything on the farm is happy! But at least they know where their meat comes from and had happy lives, so that is good.
We had nice talks and the kids played, we ate delicious chili and fresh baked bread and got send home with leftovers, a jar of honey (they are beekeepers too!), and a jar of sourdough starter to start my own baking :)
It was a good weekend. This morning it was off to the post office and then getting a couple things at TJ Maxx with my babies. It is so hard to get out of the house with two. I woke up before 7 and still couldn't make it out the door before 10:30 between breakfasts for everyone, nursing, pumping, waiting for naps to finish, multiple diaper changes, etc, it just is so frustrating! Love my sweet babes though, they do make life more fun.
It was fun for us to see lots of our old college friends too, eat delicious food, dance the night away, and celebrate with Kelly and Ed.
The next night was my 20 year high school reunion. Wow, that makes me feel old!
I found myself as I was in high school, but I guess I still am like that today too, waiting for others to approach me instead of reaching out. So, due to that, I didn't get to talk to everyone and left a little disappointed. But I did get to talk to a lot of people and have some nice conversations. Out of a graduating class of 49, about 21 came so not too shabby. Actually several more still live in the area and didn't come, so too bad. It was odd having some classmates with kids in high school and there was us with Jeanie, so I still felt young :)
It is crazy how time flies!
This was 1.5 tubs and several bags of Salvation Army clothes that I cut tags off and sorted into newborn, 0-3, 3-6, 6-9, and 12 months. It was sweet to unpack things that I had bought, yes in my early 20s for my "hope chest" of being a mother someday and wanting a little girl. I can't believe poor college student Anne spent her money like that (mostly clearance from Target and Kohls) but still I was spending money on a baby that wouldn't end up existing for another 15 years!! Guess it shows that desire was there for a long time.
And I washed all the newborn and size 0-3.
So I've been stressed about where to store it all since August's dressers are full of his stuff. But there is a little space in his closet for some of her stuff to hang (especially when spring comes and I can pack away a good couple inches wide of his snowpants/winter coats!). And I'm going to buy one of those underbed storage drawers and just keep her clothes under the crib. Not ideal to bend down, but hey, better than cluttered over-stuffed drawers.
Another thing I did was make some freezer meals.

I know you can't read these, but had printed out 6 recipes and then had 6 labeled gallon bags and went through one by one cutting and putting in the ingredients.

An hour and a half later I had 6 recipes to freeze and be ready for the crockpot. BBQ chicken, no-fuss potato soup, coconut curry chicken, tuscan white bean soup, salsa chicken, and one more I guess I'm forgetting. I also bought a couple packs of ready to bake yeast rolls to go with some of them. And at least I'll have 6 meals for when baby is here.
I also started a hospital packing list and started getting stuff together for that too.
And we did have some fun too. We had his 3 little boy friends over Friday night to play while their parents went out and then Saturday we went over to Liz's for dinner and for another boy play date.

I kept laughing because we have the kid sized car that August loves, and Liz has this little grocery cart version for a doll, and August kept trying to get it. "Help it!!" I just was imagining him like, "hey, who shrunk my car?!?"
The next day was waffles, blueberries, and church.
And pretty soon after we got home and were sitting down to lunch, Daddy was home!
The new car seems pretty low-rust and we are thankful to have Doug back home safe. Hopefully it will be a good vehicle for our family. It's always stressful spending a big chunk of money all in one blow, but I know Doug did a ton of research so that makes it better. No more accidents!
