party and poison ivy

Pigtails!!!

This weekend we celebrated this little girl turning one. I had already sent out the invites before the Governor extended stay at home, again, so too bad. It was outside and socially distanced so low-risk.

Happy girl.

Big brother partied so hard he fell asleep under his chair later during his quiet time.

I finished planting in my garden. I had gotten this topsy turvy tomato plant grower as a gift back in 2007 (according to the gift receipt) and I'm finally using it! I'm excited to see if it will work. I have had good luck growing grape tomatoes, but not with regular tomatoes, so we shall see.

Strawberries growing, and planted 2 cucumber plants, one yellow pepper, and one zucchini. I have yet to grow a successful zucchini, so my hopes are quite low.

Sweet August picked me some flowers <3

Bike rides :)

Mmmmm watermelon season is coming

Snuggling this morning

Last Tuesday we were working outside and planting in the garden and I was working clearing some vines in a wooded area in our yard... Wednesday night I woke up in the middle of the night scratching myself and I STILL have this, what I am assuming, is poison ivy. I don't really know because it's not open and weeping but it's all over my arms, flank, and on both thighs. Doug got me a $37 cream that worked better than this cream my mom gave me, but it's still so itchy :(

The swelling in the forearm has gone down a little, it was so swollen the wrist area was as wide as the forearm area and it hurt! It doesn't help that the dermatologist has super limited hours now, guess I'm on my own. I hope it resolves soon!

Jeanie turns one

I can't believe my baby is one. This year just zoomed by incredibly fast. I feel like it went a lot faster than August's first year- probably due to the fact that I am now busy with him as well and can't savor her babyhood. Which is actually kind of sad, but how else can you do it with more than one child?!

In the hospital after her birth one of my nurses gave me the advice, if you have more than one child, when both are crying go to the older child first because the baby won't remember, but the older child will. And I thought it was great advice, but just then again, I feel like her babyhood was pushed to the backburner and she really did play 'second fiddle' to the firstborn. 😭 But once again, somehow you gotta manage.

Anyway, thanks to the quarantine her birthday party has been postponed, so here are some pictures from her actual birthday.

Started the morning off right with her first taste of blueberry pancakes. Yum!

We spent the day how we usually do at home rotating meals, naps, playing. It was cold outside, so was indoors.

I made her my favorite oatmeal cake. Seriously, I will never be a pinterest mom. I was getting stressed out making this and trying to have everything ready. It stuck to the pan, but it was still delicious. I don't know how other people are so good at getting multiple things done and prepared.

Her "frosting" was whipped coconut cream, the rest of us had actual frosting.

She liked it.

So, her party was postponed, but we did have a couple neighbors come stand on the porch and they sang happy birthday to her and had a piece of cake.

She actually ended up eating a lot more than I had planned on her having, as again, was busy doing something with August while she was going to town, haha.

Um... why are my neighbors serenading me??

New Elmo toy

New balance bike from mama and daddy.

Beautiful handmade headband from a friend.

We are so blessed to have this sweet little girl!

Jeanie's dedication

Sweet Jeanie was dedicated yesterday at our church. We chose the verse: Psalm 139:13-14 for her "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your words are wonderful, I know that full well."
Our biggest prayer and hope is that both our children come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
We had both our parents and a couple friends come support and celebrate with us.
(wearing a dress I wore as a child)
Jeanie, we love you so much. You are so precious to us, truly an answer to prayer. We ask God to give us the daily wisdom, strength, and patience to be the parents you need. We pray that He will call you to Himself, and that your heart will be open to receive. Amen.
