Apple picking and apple pie

This weekend we went with our friends to our favorite apple orchard.

Yum, donuts!

With my bestie.

Yesterday August and I made a pie. We followed Mom's pie crust recipe and Betty Crocker for the pie part.

August loved helping me get the apples ready.

The pie crust was hard to make. And was a lot of butter!

All done! We took one to a new neighbor that moved in recently and then we went out for Mediterranean with some friends and they came over afterwards for pie a la mode.

Yum!

Weekend update

Last weekend we zipped up North to visit my 99-year-old Grandpa. I try to see him a couple times a year.

We usually stay with the Aunt & Uncle my Grandpa lives with, but this time we stayed with a cousin and his wife and their 4 kids. It was nice to catch up with them and the kids all played so nice together.

We came home for church, yay!, our church ministry is back up and running so we can go and actually pay attention instead of running after the kids.

Our neighbor took a few photos of us on another neighbors lawn (no one needs to see our dry bare spots lawn, haha) since we had dressed up for the momentous occasion :)

Then we went to Doug's friend's house for an evening swim. He heated the pool to 90! It felt really nice, and we went out to dinner with them to Mediterranean. Yum.

Fun!

Life lately

Just trying to keep up with life over here. Started Bible Study Fellowship again, but it's online zoom meetings in the morning. So needless to say instead of the kids being in their own little classrooms with kids-appropriate lessons, they were swarming around me and it was very hard to pay attention.

Work has been super busy, almost every time I have 6 patients (instead of 5) and no one gets good care spread that thin.

And these 2 have kept me super busy. Today was a good day though, we went to the park:

Got an easel off FB Marketplace, my homeschooling program says that "vertical writing" helps kids learn better, so here ya go.

And we got a hand-me-down sandbox from a friend that is a huge success.

This was a "Dino Dig" kit on clearance (now I know why), it's basically a block of dried plaster of Paris with a mini dinosaur skeleton in there. So your little paleontologist chips them out while your kitchen, their clothes, and everything in a 6 foot radius gets covered in dust. HE LOVED IT!! But I did spend at least 20 minutes cleaning it up later.

Love these babes.

Learning to cut!
It is so hard to teach little hands how to cut!!

It's been a busy week. Doug spent 2 days texting on and off Spirit Airlines to redeem our flight vouchers from our cancelled Florida trip back in March and rebooked for next winter. I'm just glad they finally did it. Tonight I'm going up to spend the evening helping a friend organize her house. Then a busy weekend with a blitz trip up north to see my Grandpa, and back down for church (YAY the children's ministry is back!) and dinner/swimming at Doug's friend's house. I'm hoping to go apple picking too, but might be too busy to squeeze it all in.
