outdoor fun

Well we didn't go to Florida. Thankfully we got all our money back too, well, I guess Spirit just gave us a credit, but we're lucky. The day after cancelling I was thinking maybe we were just overreacting and I wanted to buy everything again and still go, especially when I saw our flights had changed to $17 one way and $25 coming home(!). So we prayed about it and were still unsure what to do. In the Bible they talk about casting lots and so I do believe God can work through that as well, so we prayed and flipped a coin and it was a 'no' for Florida. So we stayed home. It was a bummer, but we still did end up having some nice family time at home.

Doug has been working from home, so it's been good but also bad because I have to keep the kids quiet and away from the bedroom where he's working. And it's hard to just know he's here, but not really available to help me. But we are thankful that (for now) he still has work and the ability to work from home.

Taking the kids outside:

An after-dinner walk:

Exploring the nature trails in the park by our home:

Give a boy a bucket and he'll happily play in the leaves for 45 minutes :)

Another day, another hike. These grasses were like 10 feet tall!

Liz had her baby! I'd been present at the births of boys 1 and 2 so it was really hard to miss out on this one. We weren't sure if I'd be able to be at the birth anyway, since I now have 2 of my own and less free-time, but then the hospital no-visitor policy kind of answered that question as well. Her husband did a great job coaching, and baby boy is here safely after a last-minute cesarean. I hope to actually meet him soon!

We hooked up the bike attachments and August got promoted from front seat to his own little attachment bike. Hopefully one day he'll learn to peddle and that will help a little bit. We went to a local metropark, but it was VERY cold. Poor Jeanie had tears in her eyes from the cold air. And it was really hard for Doug to do both kids. August's bike thing doesn't attach to my bike and I'm kind of scared to have Jeanie on my handlebars, so he has to do all the work. So we just did a mile and then turned around.

Corona

Man I didn't want to write a coronavirus post, but it seems to be impacting everyone. I just found out my floor at work is turning into "the coronavirus ward" for all known and suspected cases. So I'm pretty worried about it. My first shift since that changed is tomorrow so I'm hoping I'll feel more settled and ok about things once I see what we are doing to keep everyone, including our staff, safe. I don't have a ton of respiratory failure experience, so I am nervous about the patient care aspect of this illness as well.

I saw this on FB and hope I can keep this in mind when caring for people:

We are supposed to fly to Florida this week for a much looked forward to vacation and are wondering if we should cancel it. We weren't going to go to Disney, but were looking forward to beaches, and being in nature preserves. On one hand I'm wondering if it's being socially irresponsible traveling around, on the other I'm thinking that we're going to low population areas anyway, I just don't know. Also wouldn't want to get trapped somewhere.

In other news, Doug and I had a movie date yesterday. We saw I Still Believe, and it was SO GOOD.

Go see it! (we were the only ones in the theater)

Also made a batch of lactation cookies for Liz, her baby is due tomorrow.

And this girl is pulling up on furniture now. Life moves by so quickly!
